Eva Longoria: Ready to Fight for Mexico

She was actively vocal during this past year's presidential election, and now it sounds as if Eva Longoria is doing her best to get President Barack Obama to address an issue dear to her heart.

The "Desperate Housewives beauty recently spoke with FOX Pop Tarts, explaining the need for reform when it comes to Mexican immigration.

"First things first, our country is in a really tough position right now and I think definitely immigration will be addressed and I will be there to make sure that we're protected," Longoria said.

Adding that she wishes more attention was paid to our neighbors south of the border rather than overseas, the soon-to-be 34-year-old adds, "It is unfortunate that we spend so much time as Americans all over the world, and we need to really focus a lot of our energy on our front porch which is Mexico and I hope that we'll be able to bring more attention to the a lot of the poverty and illiteracy and the educational programs in Mexico."
