Emmy Fashion Steals The Show

Posted Monday September 17, 2007 3:29 PM GMT

As the who’s who of Hollywood gathered at the Shrine Auditorium for the 59th annual Emmy Awards last night, one thing was made abundantly clear… bold colors were the way to go.

The red carpet was dazzled with celebs sporting all kinds of getups, and the powerful hues were an unapologetic departure from the usual subtlety of the event.

Celebs donned bold blues, reds, and yellows as they made their grand entrances into the awards show. And according to “Ugly Betty” star Vanessa Williams, last night was a call to designers to bring their best.

Williams told press, "This color is magnificent. When the announcements for nominations were made, Kevin Hall said he had a gown especially for me. No one had seen it or worn it."

According to Mercury News, there were just as many notable looks as their were notable misses.

• Best trends: Bold colors, ornate gowns, strapless frocks and classic elegance.
• Best cleavage: Christina Aguilera's Valentino gown may have flattered her new baby bump, but her cleavage definitely stole the show.
• Worst hair: Ellen Pompeo wins this award the second year in a row with her hair-raising pompadour.
• Most painful looking shoes: Sandra Oh claimed that her Bottega Veneta strap-happy shoes were comfortable, but they looked like S&M garb.
• Best use of a gray suit: Zachary Quinto chose to stay away from the classic black and white tux and wore a sleek Alexander McQueen suit.
• Best dressed: Katherine Heigl had the most complete look with a flawless image of old Hollywood.
• Worst dressed: Hayden Panettiere was not a hero in that poofy madness made by Marc Bouwer.
