Debbie Rowe: Trying to Get Custody?
With the recent tragic loss, many are wondering what will happen with Michael Jackson’s children.
Debbie Rowe, the mother of Prince Michael 12, and Paris, 11, is their legal parent and has the opportunity to gain custody of them if she decides to do so.
The children including Prince Michael, Paris, and 7-year-old Blank, whose mother has not been identified, have been watched over by Jackson’s mother Katherine since their father passed away Thursday evening from cardiac arrest. “The kids are very upset, but they are fine,” told Jackson’s manager, Frank DiLeo.
Rowe and Jackson had a custody battle back in 2005, where Rowe wanted to give up her parental rights and claimed Michael was an excellent father. Judge Stephen Lachs, who is now retired, took the hearing and, at first, agreed to terminate them, but Lachs changed his mind and returned rights to her.
“She lost them, and then she got them back. She was inconsolable,” explained Finsilver, who spoke to Rowe on Thursday but will not give any details on what Rowe is planning on doing in the situation.
"Katherine is the logical choice – she has all the grandkids and nieces around her but it will be up to the courts," Oxman said.. "I wouldn't be surprised if there are more proceedings regarding the children."
