Ready to fight charges in court, CBS producer Joe Halderman entered a not guilty plea to charges of trying to extort $2 million from David Letterman.
The 52-year-old Halderman showed up in handcuffs at a Manhattan courthouse this afternoon after he threatened Letterman about going public with personal information regarding the talk show host's sexual relations with an employee.
While prosecutors were hoping to get a $500,000 bail amount set, the judge decided to set it at $200,000 - an amount expected to be paid on Monday.
Halderman's lawyer, Gerald Shargel, told press of his client: "He was a responsible person. He has never been in trouble with the law before."
