Catherine Zeta-Jones: Spicing up Sydney

When Catherine Zeta-Jones is in the house, people take notice. And when she showed up in Sydney, Australia this weekend, all eyes were on her.

The “No Reservations” actress was in town promoting her new movie “Death Defying Acts” along with co-star Guy Pearce (remember “Memento”?) and Saoirse Ronan.

And at the State Theatre premiere, the brunette beauty stopped traffic to meet hundreds of adoring fans whistling and chanting her name.

During a pre-screening press conference, Catherine charmed members of the media with her subtle mix of sex appeal and sarcasm. When she asked “Is it hot in here or is it just me?” a member of the panel quickly replied, “It’s you!” to which she replied, “I didn’t plan that!”

As for being a sex symbol, yet in her late 30s, Zeta-Jones commented, "Obviously, my career is expanding and I am a mother and so I'm not going to be rip-roaring in corsets playing a 19-year-old because I'm not, I'm 38 years old. I'm actually really lucky and glad these other roles have come along and I can play a mother."
