Carrie Prejean and Donald Trump Make Amends

Posted Tuesday May 12, 2009 6:43 PM GMT

It has been a very tense situation in the Carrie "Miss California" Prejean camp over the past few weeks, with the uncertainty of whether or not she’ll keep her crown. But today (May 12) Donald Trump announced that she would not be stripped of her title.

The “Apprentice” mogul announced, "She will remain Miss California. She, I believe, will do a fantastic job. We're very proud of her. It's been a very tough time for her. She has taken a lot of abuse from people who shouldn't be handing out abuse. But she is tough, she's smart and she's very beautiful, and that's why she's Miss California."

Initially it was thought that Prejean would have to step down because some questionable pictures of her had surfaced after her controversial showing at the Miss USA Pageant.

But The Donald revealed that Carrie was in the clear because the “topless” picture was taken when she was a minor, and other pictures that turned up had been photoshopped by an unscrupulous photographer.

As could be expected, Carrie was thankful and emotional as the announcement was made at the Manhattan press conference, and she thanked her family and God “for trusting me with this large task.”
