Another Innocent Plea in Travolta Scandal
Former Bahamian senator Pleasant Bridgewater had a helping hand from police escorts as she was led into her hearing in Nassau, Bahamas earlier today (January 28).
The one-time lawmaker became the second suspect to plead not guilty in extortion charges stemming from an alleged plot to bilk $25 million from John Travolta and Kelly Preston following their son Jett's recent passing.
Facing a jam-packed courtroom filled with supporters and protesters, Bridgewater faced counts of "abetment to extort" and "conspiracy to commit extortion."
"I believe she was released on $40,000 bail and resigned from her position as senator," Royal Bahamas Police Assistant Commissioner Raymond Gibson told E! News.
After paying up $50,000 bail, the former Senator was free to leave, although she's said to be due back in court on February 11.
