Brad Paisley Takes CMA to GMA

Posted Tuesday November 8, 2011 4:12 PM GMT

Rocking out ahead of tomorrow's CMA Awards, country crooner Brad Paisley performed live from Nashville for "Good Moring America" today (November 8).

Hitting the stage at Bridgestone Arena, the 39-year-old was clad in his usual cowboy gear as he played one of his biggest hits, "I'm Gonna Miss Her," for the super-excited crowd.

During a recent interview with ABC's "Nightline," Brad dished about his just-released book "Diary of a Player: How My Musical Heroes Made a Guitar Man Out of Me."

Of his heroes named in the book, Paisley thanks his grandfather, Warren Jarvis, for his sturdy foundation and strong work ethic, explaining, "He said, 'You can play this instrument and three or four hours later, not remember what you were upset about.' And that's all he wanted. He didn't care if I was ever, you know, successful. He wanted me to be happy."

While Jaris passed away when Brad was just 13, he says his memory is still with him wherever he goes, explaining, "I take his talent and his passion with me -- to the stage of the Opry, to the podium at the CMA Awards, to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, into my own living room. I am the realization of my grandfather's dream. I am a player."
